He was born in Rome in 1944. After starting with painting, he found his talent for figurative art expressed through sculpture, combining mythological and religious inspiration with the anxieties of modernity. He is the creator of monumental works such as “The Shield of Achilles,” a polychrome bronze acquired by the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome for the Quirinal Palace; “Medusa,” a bronze head of the famous Gorgon; “Icarus” at the Gallery of Modern Art in Piombino and in a private collection on the French Riviera; “Mercury,” a bronze monument created for the Jubilee Agency of 2000, located at the Court of Rome; “Siren,” a bronze sculpture depicting the birth of Venus; “Resurrection,” a monument dedicated to Falcone and Borsellino in Caltanissetta; a fountain dedicated to the Zodiac Signs in Torrenova (MS); “Mermaid of Maratea,” a polychrome bronze placed at the center of the eponymous fountain in the main square; “Sacred Love and Profane Love” for a collection in Antwerp; the bronze columns “The Courtship” and “The Age of Love,” in his new research called Archeology of Feelings; and for the FAO and the Ministry of Health, the bronze commemorating the Eradication of Rinderpest, located in EUR. Equally significant are his works of sacred art, including four white Carrara marble sculptures created for St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican and placed in the Michelangelo Niches. During the Great Jubilee of 2000, he exhibited his testimony on contemporary sacred art. He is the author of the funerary monument that houses the relics of Saint Camillus de Lellis in the church of La Maddalena at the Pantheon. In 2017, he presented “The Via Dolorosa,” seventeen bronze works that retrace the sacrifice of Jesus; “The Broken Cross” in the sanctuary of Our Lady of Divine Love in Rome. He has created portals for churches and basilicas throughout Italy. For the Order of the Benedictines in 2000, he made a large polychrome bronze sculpture dedicated to St. Benedict in Subiaco. He is the author of the official Jubilee medal dedicated to “God the Father,” in two gold versions and one in silver. He has created other significant works of Sacred Art, including pulpits, tabernacles, Stations of the Cross, and more, located inside and outside churches and ecclesiastical institutions. For the series “The Texts of Conscience,” he illustrated the “Confessions of St. Augustine,” with commentary by Prof. Vincenzo Cappelletti. For Vidia Ed., he illustrated “Paolus” with twenty-four color plates and a cover sculpture dedicated to the Saint of the Gentiles.
