Alfredo de Martino

Alfredo De Martino (Naples, 1928) is an Italian painter active in the latter half of the twentieth century. His artistic career has been marked by a strong adherence to the Neapolitan painting tradition, recognized as a glory of Italian art.

De Martino was influenced by the painters of his time, such as Viti, Crisconio, Villani, Brancaccio, and Bresciani. His style is characterized by a strong Neapolitan identity, distinguishing him from other artists of his period.

Art critic Antonio Asturi recognized De Martino as a talented painter, stating: “The dabblers, consumers of coloring materials today, are nothing but dross. Alfredo De Martino is not part of this army of time-wasters; he is well-placed in Neapolitan painting, which is and will remain a glory of Italian art. To painter De Martino, my recognition.”
